Aquatia: Treacherous Currents

This book really spoke to my inner 10 year old.
Images of the earth being divided into those on land,those in the air and those in the sea.
People that can fly, breathe under water and seem to communicate with dogs!. (Doesn’t matter if they are bad or not, still cool to a 10 year old).
This is the story of a young girl who loses her mother then a year later finds out she is part of this under water people/kingdom.
She discovers she has the ability to talk to fish which become her true friends.
The story line moves smoothly for most of the book. Some weak spots but that’s my grown up mind popping up I think.
The friendship and interaction between the different fish is refreshing. The dialogue was strong and believable in most of the interactions. Several times I laughed out loud at the interactions. Very fresh writing style.
Again my adult mind would pop up and ask if that is really how the fish would talk to each other or how they could know that phrase but my inner 10 year told the adult to pipe down.

The lessons from this book were straight forward and out in plain sight. Friendship and being true to yourself and your friends trumps any evil.
This is one book that I look forward to having my daughter read when she gets old enough. I also plan on giving it to my wife’s niece to read.
A solid 4 out of 5 and a must read if you want a fun time and escape into the dreams you had when you were 10

Drums of Desolation

  I have followed this from the very first book.
This one, much like the last was a disappointment. TOO MANY CHARACTERS AND INWARD WHINING.
This book covers only a few days and a lot goes on in those few days but I sure got tired quickly of listening to Josh inward complaining and uttering nonsense.
I do find it interesting that Josh has spent most his life in ancient time but yet uses modern references so easily.
Combining the two book series adds to the utter confusion in the story line now...also not sure if I want to read the next a(and maybe the last) book, that is sad.
Even more sad is that I think I have stopped caring about the characters that I have followed for all these years.

The Librarian (Little Boy Lost)

Nicely done! While this is a typical approach to a middle reader novel, that of having classic books come alive of sorts, I was taken in by the characters.
The characters were stereo type as well but I liked them.
You have the geeky unsung, picked on hero, his best friend that stands up for him, that also happens to be a girl. The bully, the creepy old librarian, and the mysterious library.
This last part was different than most and well done.
I smiled at the funny bits, I rooted for our hero, I even found myself thinking "I don't think I ever really read Wizard of Oz and I must now do so."
This ended on a cliff hanger, which was to be expected, but I will read the 2nd book, after I finish the Wizard of Oz I think.

New Testament (KJV)

I really enjoyed going from cover to cover on this one.

I find it very interesting how many different Church's and their beliefs come form this one book. I truly do not understand how quite a few of them could interpret what they do as doctrine.

A must read at least once in your life.

High Druids Blade

Welcome back Mr. Brooks and good old fashion Shannara story.
While this is set the most current of Stories in this vast amount of books it was one of the ones I enjoyed.
Terry Brooks has a formula for his stories that works well, but this one seemed to change it up a bit, at least to me.
I enjoyed his tying on the last series of Books and opening up a future for at least a couple more.
I love the use of magic as he has it here.

A must read for Shannara fans!

FableHaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague

This was a good read, especially when you consider it is the midway book in the series.
The action was never really boring. At one or two points it seemed very convenient for certain things to happen but it did not pull me out of the story.
The characters' were nice to visit again, which is always a plus in a multi book red.
This book also made me want to continue to the next.
As a stand alone read it could be done but I would recommend you read the other 2 first.
The magic system stayed intact as well as the main characters stayed true to what you know from the previous books.

Kngdom Keepers III

Not as good as the first 2 but I am invested in the books now.
I have been to WDW several times and I found several inaccurate things bother me.
Over all a good story even with the moments that it seemed to drag on.

It seemed to take forever to get to any real action. A lot of running around, hiding from people and the oh so ever lucky finding the correct answer when needed just in time.
If you like the characters from the first 2 books then read on, if it wasn't your cup of tea then skip.
One nagging question kept coming up...where are all the good characters? I mean I can't see Peter Pan or Merlin or Mr. Toad or even Mickey Himself sitting back and letting the evil ones have this much control unopposed
