Healing the Wounded Soul

Nothing earth shattering in this little book. But I enjoyed it.
Jack Christianson is a great speaker and that style transfers easily to his books.

While I said nothing earth shattering I did learn a few things and learned to look at some very popular scriptures in a new way.

The Fort

I usually enjoy reading Cornwell's books. They move along at a brisk pace and even the mundane day to day items work well.
This one did not (In my mind) The bickering of the Americans between each other, while based on history and probably true, got boring and made me tired.
The action close to the end was first rate Cornwell.

Not sure how this can turn into a series so I would bet it will not.

To Draw Closer To God

This is the second time I have read through this book. I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time.
It is a collection of talks Elder Eyring has given.
I found it nice that in spots where he would have address the listening audience it was changed to say reader. Small and simple yet adds to the reading experience overall.
This book contains several ways to do exactly what the title suggests. To draw closer to God.

Fritz Leiber

I picked this up at the Library thinking it would be about the writing style and writing life of this author.
Turns out it wasn't quite like that. This is written by a person who has read every one of the books/stories of Mr. Leiber.
He talks a bit about the writers life and thoughts then goes into a list of the stories and a short synopsis of each. He then adds his opinion of what Mr. Leiber was probably thinking when he wrote the story.
I found it ok.

The Return of Sherlock Holmes

Long before it was ok to bring back characters who were killed off in the soaps, Conan Doyle did it with Mr Holmes.
I enjoyed this set of stories more than the first i think.
They seem to be more full of life and thinking. Holmes seems to make a few mistakes which is refreshing.
Only one questions remains...what ever happened to Watson's wife? She was there before Holmes took the dive off the fall (or did he) and then not mentioned in any of these stories...it's a mystery

Priesthood Power

This is a small book but contains great information. I did not have any earth shattering ah ha moments in this but found it helpful nonetheless. In fact i think I will be getting copies for several of the Priesthood holders in my family.
This book talks about how and why we administer blessing, mostly for the sick but touches on father blessings a bit as well.
I think this is a good book for any missionary about to go out to at least glance at.

Your Faith and You

This is a rather old book I found mixed in a box of books my parents were going to "donate" It has a note written in the front that shows it was a present to my grandfather, on my dads side, from one of his daughters and her family in 1953.
It is a collection of editorials that Mark E Petersen had written and were published in a local Utah paper in the 1940's.
I admit some of the sections I skimmed since they did not really apply today, but a lot of it still applies and is sound wisdom. Some truths never change and that in itself is a comfort and makes this book a good read or skim. (If you can find one that is)
